"Bartlett Bandit" Gray Rolls Toward 10th National Championship Title

Defending and two time United Sprint Car Series National Champion and current National points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee is on track to capture his tenth(10th) National touring series sprint car championship going into the Fall “special events” portion of the 2003 season.

The “Bartlett Bandit” (Gray) has captured thirteen winged 360 sprint car feature wins thus far in 2003, including seven USCS wins and six wins in other competition while driving his own “infamous” stealth black Wendy’s/ Goodson Farms sponsored #10 Maxim.

Gray leads both the USCS National point standings and the USCS Dirt Series points chase as well. He has tallied five USCS Dirt Series wins and a pair of USCS “Asphalt Thunder” paved track wins plus four wins at Memphis Motorsports Park as well as a win at the new Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, Mississippi and he won an ASCS Gulf South region race in May.

In addition to the seven USCS feature wins Gray has finished in second place ten (10) times in the USCS. He has finished out of the top three in USCS events only four times, all due to mechanical problems. Gray has a total of twenty two (22) top three finishes in the first 26 USCS races. He has also finished in the top five in forty one (41) of the forty six (46) races (inside and outside USCS competition) he has competed in this season.

His five USCS Dirt Series wins came at Clarksville Speedway (on May 10th for daughter Stevi Ann’s thirteenth birthday) and at Thunder Hill Raceway, Cochran Speedway, Dixie Speedway and Green Valley Speedway. His USCS asphalt series wins came at Florence Motor Speedway and at Huntsville Speedway on his own birthday on August 8th.

If Gray reaches his benchmark tenth series title it will have been accomplished in a year that would have to be his most mentally difficult and challenging after becoming a single parent and dealing with the loss of his wife Ginger in November of 2002 at the conclusion of one of his best racing years.
