| Wednesday, August 27, 2003 | | | Willie Stauffer returns to racing in USCS | Winter Park, Florida - William "Willie" Stauffer from Winter Park, Florida has returned to sprint car racing after a five year youthful retirement / hiatus. Stauffer who finished in third place in his first United Sprint Car Series race in legendary Mobile car owner Johnny Ardis' number 31 sprint car.
After sitting out of the sport for several years, Stauffer immediately showed he still has the talent to race with some of the best open wheel racers in the country. He followed that effort with a seventh place finish on the following night at Senoia Speedway and would have ran further up, but "I had the left rear tire bleeder stick and we lost too much staggerand we picked up quite a push, so I just held on for as good a finish as I could. We were fast until that happened" said the enthusiastic young returned racer. Stauffer is the son of sprint car veteran and 1997 USCS National Champion, William "Red" Stauffer.
