Kenny Adams scores USCS "Bama Nationals" prelim win

Glencoe, Al. - The Malabar Missle, Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida won Friday night's 20 lap United Sprint Car Series "Bama Outlaw Sprint Car Nationals'" preliminary main event at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama. Adams did it "the hard way" for his 13th USCS uscsracing.com victory of the year by starting sixth and chasing 1999 USCS national champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas for the first seven circuits before taking the lead.

Skinner looked to be in top form as he restarted behind Adams on lap twelve after a caution. The yellow was for fourth running Scott Young from Mooresville, North Carolina went to the rear with a flat. Clean air was all Adams needed to pull away from Skinner, third running Terry Gray and the rest of the field.

On lap fourteen, Skinner and Gray closed on Adams in lapped traffic and Gray took advantage of the oppurtunity to pass Skinner and move close to Adams on the final two laps, but Adams who seemed to be negotiating the race track flawlessly, raced into victory lane to get his $1500 paycheck for the prelim feature. Gray trailed closely in second followed by Skinner, Jim Raptis from Marietta, Georgia who started fourth and Johnny Gilbertson from Dover, Florida.

Chris Hill from Wedowee, Alabama, Tom Winegardner from Pierson, Florida, Jeremy Scott from Franklin, Georgia, Randy Helton from Palmetto, Georgia and Scott Cramer from Fremont, Ohio completed the top ten.

Hill who started 15th garnered the Huggins Cams "Hardcharger" award. Adams got the KSE "Outstanding Driving Performance" award for his exciting drive to the front. The events "Top Rookie" award went to Shawn Stafford, Gainesville, Georgia. Heat races went to Adams who also had the fastest time of the night, Gray and Raptis.

Tonite's final round of the "Bama Outlaw Sprint Car Nationals" event in addition to the Airflow Research Power Dash featuring the top six cars from Friday night will include qualifying heats and the 30 lap "Bama Nationals" Championship main event. Tonight's race like Friday's will be at the same speedway and will be video and audio webcast on USCS-TV and USCS-Radio at www.uscsracing.com by Satellite Cable Communications, Inc. satcc.tv
