Pendleton, Ind. (August 12, 2003) – Recording his ninth top-10 finish of the 2003 ASA Racing Series, Reed Sorenson added to his points lead in the $50,000 Rookie of the Year standings. After 11 of 17 events, Sorenson leads Florida’s Travis Kittleson by 182
markers, the largest margin of the season.

Sorenson has posted five top-five finishes in the initial 11 events, only finishing outside the top 10 on two occasions. Driving the ACDelco / Port City Racecars / Tilton Engineering Chevrolet for Automotive Promotions Inc., Sorenson has produced a best
finish of third, initially at USA International Speedway in March and most recently at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in May.

Involvement in a late-race accident during the Meijer 250 presented by BFGoodrich Tires at Berlin Raceway ruined the hope of a top-10 performance for Kittleson in Michigan. He is second in the freshman standings because of five-top five finishes,
including a best performance of second at Concord Motorsport Park in April. Wheeling the Bob Steele Chevrolet, Kittleson also finished third at Toledo Speedway, fourth at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway and fifth at the season-opening Jani-King 200 at USA International Speedway in March.

Illinois competitor Boris Jurkovic remains in third position in the standings, coming off a 21st place effort at Berlin. The previous two events, Jurkovic scored finishes in the top 10 including a best finish of his career, crossing the line in fourth spot at Indianapolis Raceway Park in June.

West Virginia’s Davin Scites ranks fourth in the rookie standings after placing 30th in the most recent event. The driver of the No. 06 John Michael Montgomery Chevrolet scored the best victory of his career in April, winning the BFGoodrich Tires 250 at Concord
Motorsport Park, after passing Mike Garvey on the final lap of the event.

Ohio’s Kris Stump is fifth in the freshman standings, after being listed 29th in the most recent ASA event. With sponsorship backing from McDonald’s and Noah Yoder Ford, Stump has posted a best finish of ninth at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

The 12th event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is set for Saturday, August 16 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, Pa. The Pennsylvania 250 takes the green flag at 7:30 p.m. (Local) and will be telecast live on SPEED Channel.
