| Wednesday, March 26, 2003 | | | Renshaw to represent 101st Airborne during Nashville ARCA RE/MAX event | Deborah Renshaw will run a special paint schene at the April 11th ARCA RE/MAX Series event. MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 26, 2003) - Deborah Renshaw will salute and pay tribute to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, specifically the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), at the April 11 ARCA RE/MAX Series event at the Nashville Superspeedway. Renshaw will be running a special paint scheme on the No. 75 Bob Schacht Motorsports Ford adorning the famous 101st Airborne screaming eagle on the hood of the race car.
"I'm very proud to represent the 101st Airborne during these tumultuous times," said Renshaw. "These brave men and women are risking their lives alongside thousands of coalition forces in Iraq to free our world from terrorism. I feel like this is a small way that we can say thank you to both them as well as their families, who have been left behind."
The Bowling Green, Kentucky native grew up within a fifty-mile radius of Fort Campbell which is home to the 101st Airborne. Renshaw and her family are also well aware of the importance of the US military as Renshaw's father, Dan Renshaw, served as a paratrooper in the US Army during the Vietnam war.
"It is such an honor for me to carry the colors of the 101st Airborne during this very special weekend at Nashville," said Renshaw. "I grew up so close to the base in Kentucky and with such a deep respect for the sacrifices that these soldiers make to ensure our freedom and our way of life in the United States. These brave men and women leave their families for months or even years at a time to place their lives on the line to defend America. I hope to spend some time with the families of the 101st Airborne at the race track as they will be special guests of ours thanks to a thoughtful donation of 400 tickets from the Nashville Superspeedway for members of the families of the 101st Airborne."
"The 101st Airborne Div. (Air Assault) is proud to be associated with Deborah Renshaw and her ARCA race team," said Maj. Hugh C. Cate III, the 101st Div. (Air Assault) public affairs officer. "Her demonstrated drive and devotion to her sport is self evident. She has earned her spot as a Screaming Eagle not only because she travels as fast as our Blackhawk helicopter but because she does it on the ground," Cate added.
"It takes commitment and dedication to be a member of the 101st Airborne Div. (Air Assault). Deborah Renshaw has shown she has the same drive," said Cate. "We are proud to welcome her into the premier Air Assault unit in the world - The 101st Airborne Div. (Air Assault)."
Renshaw has currently committed to running in three ARCA RE/MAX Series events in addition to the Nashville Superspeedway. The other events include Kentucky Speedway on May 10, Pocono Raceway on June 7 and Michigan International Speedway on June 14. Have an opinion on this story?
