Dear Pops:
As soon as the weekend, I can have you some pictures of Bill, gods knows I have 100's..of every win, every everything. Thanks so much, it's very kind of you.
: It saddens me deeply to hear this news. Although I have settled back on Long Island now, my grandfather and I attended the races there virtually every week throughout the '70's, and the Figure 8's were our favorite. I still feel a strong connection to the Sunshine Speedway community. A night of racing there is a rare treat now, and the last time we visited, "Wild Bill" won the feature. I'll never forget him for that and I'll never forget what happened this past Saturday night. I don't have all the answers but I know there are 2 rules in life: Rule #1 is, People die and Rule #2 is, You can't change rule #1. Unfortunately, death has always been a consequence of racing. The competitors know it and accept responsibility for their actions. What happened Saturday night could happen to any one of us, driving through an intersection on the highway. We accept that danger when we get in a car. When we attend a race, we accept the danger of being a spectator, and possibly being witness to a tragedy that may change our lives forever. I was at Pocono when NASCAR Modified driver Don Pratt was killed. It took me about a year to feel better after that. If you are having trouble dealing with your feelings over this, talk to the Father, your clergyman, a counselor, or whoever. You'll feel better. I hope they tell you God's greatest gift is Love; to Love and to be Loved, and Love is eternal. My heart goes out to Bill, his family, friends, loved ones, and to everyone who is grieving over this. Time heals all wounds. I plan to re-dedicate "Pops' Racing Site" to include "Wild Bill" Revard ASAP. Click on the link provided below to view my modest presentation. If anyone has pictures they would like to contribute, it would really help me out. Scan them using .jpeg format and send each individually, and I will treat them with the respect they deserve. In the meantime, life goes on. Sincerely, Jim King
