While I have only been racing at Sunshine for a year, and did not know Wild Bill personally, he was always good for a friendly hello. We have all lost a good friend and member of our racing family. I agree that Bill would not want us to cancel the final night. I think it would be a chance for us all to come together and pay our respects on the racetrack. I pledge any winnings from Saturday to the fund being set up for Bill's family.
I have another more personal reason for wanting to race Saturday night. My daughter witnessed the accident, and got a too-close realization of just how dangerous our sport is. Wild Bill has always been her favorite figure-8 driver. I think she will have an easier time dealing with her emotions if she can get right back to seeing safe racing.
Whatever is decided, all of us wish to express our deepest sympathies to Bill's family, and we're here to help in any way we can.
