| Ocala Speedway Bash Redesigned for 2008 | by BJ Cavin/b>
Plans for the 2008 Ocala Speedway Bash are now being finalized as the inaugural season of dirt racing winds down at the oldest race track in Florida. The Ocala Speedway Bash, also known as the season banquet, has traditionally been held in a local banquet facility and has been a rather dressy affair, but with the arrival of dirt racing at Ocala the celebration has been redesigned and simplified, both to cut costs to attend and to make it more open for fans and drivers to enjoy.
The 2008 Ocala Speedway Bash will be held on the infield of Ocala Speedway on Saturday, December 13th. Attendance is open to racers, fans and speedway staff and their families, and tickets will go on sale Friday, October 10th, at the speedway office. Thanks to the new format, the new ticket price for the event is a mere $15 compared to $25 in the past. It is a much more casual event than before, and attendees will have a choice of various activities in which to participate. But most importantly, top drivers will be recognized, awards and trophies will be presented, and much awaited plans for 2009 will be announced. Confirmed plans for this season's redesigned event include a bonfire, plus beverages and keg beer will be provided. Participants may also BYOB and are asked to please bring a covered dish to contribute to the buffet. RV parking will be provided and a designated area for camping will be available for anyone who wishes to stay the night.
Other plans for the event that not yet have been finalized include a DJ and dancing, prize giveaways, and much more. Further updates will be issued as more plans come into focus, and persons with questions or comments are asked to contact Ocala Speedway at 352-622-9400, or ask at the speedway office during race nights.
