FASCAR Pro Mods go for 100 Laps in Ed Meridith Memorial at New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday

by Jane Smith

Samsula, Fla (November 25, 2003) Racing season is over for all but the FASCAR Pro Mods who will race their last race of the 2003 season this Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway in a 100 lap Ed Meridith Memorial.

Coming into the last event of the year for the Pro Mods, Jerry Symons holds a slight lead over second place Alan McCafferty. Symons leads by 34 points and if McCafferty runs as well as he has in the last few races, this could be a very tight points battle.

Jim "Hoot" Flynn comes in third but only has a 4 point lead over fourth place Skip Honaker. Honaker leads Jason Boyd. who stands fifth in points, by 37 points. Boyd will have his hands full with Bryan Campbell who is only 2 points behind Boyd in sixth.

Lee Collins comes in seventh but right behind Collins is eighth place Red Vann who is only 3 points behind Collins. But Vann will also have his hands full as he has Alan Bruns in ninth only 6 points behind Vann. Larry Osteen stands tenth and 134 points behind Bruns.

Other expected drivers are Raymond Vann, Brad May, Mark Vandevender, Matt Wheeler, Bobby Blake, Michael Williams, Rob Underwood, and many more. Qualifying for the Pro Mod Ed Meridith Memorial will be at 6:30.

Also on the program for the last race of the 2003 season (with no points involved just fun) are the Super Lates, Lates, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock. Plus the Classic Auto Racing Series will conclude their two night National Event as the Best of the Classics try on New Smyrna Speedway for size.

New Smyrna Speedway will conclude their 2003 season on Saturday but will be back in action January 3, 2004 for the Red Eye 100 and January 31, 2004 for the Pete Orr Orange Blossom Memorial 125 lap Sunbelt race.

New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR44 and SR415 between I-4 and I-95 eight miles west of New Smyrna in beautiful Samsula, Florida. Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Both Orlando SpeedWorld and New Smyrna Speedway wish each and every one a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years. Enjoy your holidays!!!!
