Limited Late Models and Thunder Trucks To Have 50 Lap Races | PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – A couple of 50-lap races spices up this Saturday night’s stock car racing program at Charlotte County Speedway.
The Limited Late Models and Thunder Trucks will spin extra laps on another bargain night of $9 admission for adults.
The Limited Late Model 50-lapper is a tune-up for the following weekend’s Brian Davidson Memorial 150. It will be the final points race of 2003 for the Limited Lates. Steve Arnold has a comfortable lead over Frank Welch but needs to show to seal the deal.
The Thunder Trucks have two more races left. John Garrett will try to nail down his points championship.
Also up this Saturday night are Sportsman, Super Stocks, Road Warriors and 4-Cylinders.
Kids ages 12 and under are invited to bring their own bicycles for races on the track during intermission. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Front gates open at 4 p.m. Qualifying will be at 6:30 p.m. Racing will follow.
New Years
With the new Figure 8 track in place, Charlotte County Speedway is counting down the days to its first race through the X.
The Punta Gorda paved oval will run a School Bus Figure 8 race as part of its New Year’s Day festivities. Also racing Jan. 1 will be the Hangover Enduro 250.
The racing program will begin at 2 p.m. New Year’s Day.
The speedway is looking to purchase any old buses that can be converted to racing buses. Anyone who knows of any can call 941-815-8871. Rules are at the speedway office and can be picked up on race night.
Charlotte County Speedway also looks to field Figure 8 races for cars for the 20004 racing season.
