IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

Déjà vu Strikes at East Bay
Déjà vu Strikes at East Bay

No one in Victory Lane was a stranger there as three drivers repeated last week’s win and three more added to their 2009 victory totals as East Bay opened a busy month of November.

The Q Auto and Injury Attorney Limited Late Models opened the show as point leader John Bradley and Alex Boerner opened with heat wins. Bradley took the early lead with Boerner and Forrest Gough battling for second. Boerner fell from early contention with a turn four spin, bringing Tom Evonosky and Tim Gay into the chase. Gough passed for the lead, but a yellow flag reversed it putting Bradley back out front on lap 10. Gough couldn’t go on the restart and pulled off. Gay shot past Bradley on lap 11 to grab the lead and keep the car in front for the checkered, picking up his fifth victory. Bradley kept second while Jason Bronson ran a steady race for third. Evonosky and Jim Rowley rounded out the top five.

Street Stocks took over for the second feature and Thomas Pratt backed up last week’s feature win with a return to victory lane. Pratt started his night with a heat win, but had to come from eighth in the feature. Buck Woodhouse took the early lead, but Pratt was in control by lap three. Donnie Reed and Buck Skinner were battling when Reed got sideways and collected Skinner. Reed was able to pull away and keep his top position. A series of spins resulted in cars dropping rapidly from contention. By lap 11, only four cars remained. Pratt was unchallenged to the checkered, ahead of Woodhouse, Steve O’Lone, Jeff Forrester and Reed. James Hook and Gary Sheffield joined Pratt as heat winners.

Brian Danforth claimed his third win of the season in Outlaw 4 action. Danforth, a member of the Fort Meade High School football team that clinched the district title Friday night, moved to the low side with two laps to go to gain the win. He made the pass on Billy Howard, who had done the same to Matt Haynes. Howard took second in the feature, ahead of heat winner Cecil Martin. Haynes took fourth with Amanda Rogers hanging on for fifth. Jesse Brown also won a preliminary.

An exuberant Paulie Milum climbed from his Sprint Car for his sixth victory of the season, happy to be back in Victory Lane. Milum praised his crew for the effort to get him on top as the car was capable of riding any lane to the win. Gene Lasker grabbed the early race lead, but his engine went sour and he bowed from competition. Rocky Sullivan parlayed a steady run to a second place finish. Jeff Van Dusen came from the back of the field to finish third. Tim George and Danny Jones rounded out the top five. Lasker and George were heat winners.

With a bald left rear tire, Jack Nosbisch parked in Victory Lane for the South Shore Late Models. Nosbisch backed up his Oct. 31 win with a wire-to-wire run. Best battles were for second with Phillip Cobb prevailing after six different drivers took a turn in the position. Cobb came from 13th for the runnerup honors. Keith Nosbisch posted third, ahead of Travis Varnadore and Wallace Peacock. Keith Nosbisch, Varnadore and Roger Crouse won heats.

The final event pitted 20 motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers for a 15-lap go. Robert Kissam joined the parade who kept a winning streak at two as Kissam picked up his division-leading fifth A main. The race was marred by an incident that saw Frank Miller flip his ride while running second. Miller was okay, but out of the contest. Raymond Vann crossed in second with Curtis Book, Wayne Kissam and Dalton Epps rounding out the top five. Miller and Book were best in the heats.

ASA sanctioned racing resumes at East Bay Raceway Park Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at 6:30pm. The ASCS Sprints headline a card that includes Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers, Dirt Daubers and Florida Old Time Modifieds.
