Chris Loney takes win in the Junior's Trim Road Warriors at CCMP
By:Melanie Beckner

Punta Gorda, FL...Eight divisons of racing took on the Charlotte County Motorsports Park this past Saturday night. The antique cars from the DAARA Series were back at the 3/th mile "Jewel of the South" along with the other visiting classes such as the Mini Cups, TQ Midgets, Dwarfs and some of our back bone class which included the Road Warriors, Fab 4, Pro 4 and Thunder Trucks.

The first feature of the evening was for the Fab 4's who went at it for twenty five laps. Janene Ellwell sat on the pole with Brent Null grabbing the lead at the start of the race. The only caution to wave accured on lap four from debris. As the cars were getting the caution flag going into turn four Vinnie Urbanowski made contact with the leader Brent Null and the contact sent Urbanowski into the wall coming out of turn four.

As the green came back out the leader Null was slow and it alound Kerrington McFadden to take over the top spot. Six Laps later McFadden would have the same luck as Null earlier and fall off the pace and this time the lead was handed over to Kenneth Badali. David Doty challenged Kenneth Badli for the lead on lap eighteen and made the pass complete the following lap. David Doty went on to capture his third win in the Fab 4's which meant that he has to moe up to the Pro 4 class. Vinnie Urbanowski made his way back through the field to take second place and last weeks winner Kenneth Badali took third place.

Brady Marshall lead the Mini Cups to the start of the twenty five lap feature with Blaine Ison taking the lead at the completion of the first lap. Debris brought out the first caution on lap four. Racing for the lead on lap eleven Blaine Ison and Brady Marshall got together in turn two, with both being able to save there cars from spinning and prevented the yellow flag from coming out. At that time Brady Marhsall took over the lead for a few laps before Blaine Ison charged back to back the lead. The last caution waved on laps twenty from the spinning car driven by Tanner Ison in turn two, which also collected Bobby Rogers. Blanie Ison went on to the win with Brady Marshall and Sam Scott completing the top three positions.

Geoff Styner sat on the pole for the twenty five lap feature that ran caution free. Ted Durfee immediately put his car to the lead at the drop of the green flag. Durfee pulled out to a demanding lead leaving the rest of the field in his dust. Ted Durfee took home the victory with Jamie Barnum coming in second and Geoff Styner finished third.

The Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association, also known as DAARA ran three features races. The first feature was a ten lap dash for the Migets with Bill Wendt on the pole. For the entire eight laps Bill Wendt and Joshua Rynd raced side by side with Joshua Rynd beating out Joshua Rynd for the win. The eight cylinder cars were next out for the exciting second feature race with Tim Brush leading the start of the fifteen lap race. Frank Lenhardt took the lead at the beginning of the race. Pat McNear who has won several races over the years at CCMP was all over the back bumper of Linhardt by the third lap.

On lap ten Cory Lane had gotten a flat tire and hit the backstretch wall which brought out the caution. On the restart Pat McNear was all over the back end of Lindhardt, but was never able to pass him for the lead. Frank Lindhardt took the win with Pat McNear finishing in second and Tim Brush took third. For the final feature the Antique Sprint cars raced side by side for the entire ten lap feature with Jack Sapp taking the victory and Matt Jarrett coming in second place.

Larry Hubbard Jr was the polesitter for the twenty five lap feature for the Dwarf cars. Andy Pryor took the lead at the start of the race and had over a half of a track lead before the first caution waved on lap twenty two. Larry Dolbe had spun out on the backstretch and that started the train rection of cautions. On the restart Ray Gonzales had spun his car around coming out of turn four and on the second restart Ray Gonzales and Jeff Wolfe got together in turn four with both cars spinning around.

The second restart was unsuccessful as well with Larry Hubbard III spinning out in turn four and Roger Richmond spun his car out to aviod hitting Hubbard III. Finally the third restart was good and the rest of the race ran caution free with Andy Pryor taking the win with Larry Hubbard Jr and Tom Pryor completing the top three positions.

The always exciting Junior's Trim Shop Road Warriors took to the track for there twenty five lap feature with Chris Scott on the pole. Chris Scott would lead the first lap before Jon Prescott passed Scott for the position by the next lap. After Prescott completed the pass Chris Scott blew his motor going into turn four and spun out and ended up in the turn four wall along with Kenny Gibson and Codey Benoit. Out of the three only Kenny Gibson was able to continue on the restart to only get a flat tire and drew the caution when he came to stop at the top of turn three.

Chris Loney took over the lead from Jon Prescott on lap five with the next caution flying on lap thirteen for Willard Hadden who stopped in turn three after his radiator blew. Ona the restart Jon Prescott spun out in turn four and collected Kenny Gibson and Billy Benoit and all three cars were able to continue. Chris Loney took home the first place throphy with Jeff Firestine coming across the line in second and Brandon Kolz was third. After the race third place finisher Brandon Kolz was disqualified along with forth place finisher Chris Huntoon. Kenny Gibson, who orginally finished in fifth place took the third position.

Shane Moore was on the pole for the start of the twenty five lap feature with Jason Perkins taking over the early lead. Perkins would lead until lap four when Derrick Horton took over the position. On lap fifteen John Pummel Jr was side by side with Derrick Horton for the top spot and successfully took over the position on the same lap. Kyle Casady drew the only caution on lap ninteen when he failed to obey the move over flag. John Pummel Jr went on to take home another win with Derrick Horton in second and Jason Perkins was third.

The last race of the evening were the Thunder Trucks with Tom Pryor leading the field to the start of the twenty five lap feature. Robert Willm took the lead at the end of the first lap and the first caution waved on lap four. Terry Price spun out coming out of turn four with some help from Mike Bilacki.

The following lap Mike Bilacki drew another caution when he spun himself around on the frontstretch. It would be until lap twenty one when the next caution waved for the spinning truck driven by Lance Sober in turn four. The final caution to wave for the evening occured the following lap from Terry Price spinning out Tom Pryor. Robert Willms took the win in the Thunder Trucks with Andy Pryor finishing in second and Ray Jayne was third.

Robert Willms was disqualified in tech after the race was completed so this handed the win over to Andy Pryor, who took home his second win of the evening. This moved Ray Jayne to second and Terry Price to third.
