David Steele Wins the TBARA Feature Race at ASA Sanctioned Desoto Super Speedway
By Tom Blakeley

September 19, 2009, (Bradenton, FL) It was a beautiful night for racing and the Weather Gods blew the rain away from the track. The 26 sprint cars of the TBARA came to town to put on a show and what a show it was. David Steele drove over, around, and through the pack and took the lead by lap 20. Steele held on to take the checkered flag in Victory Circle.

Steele in the #14 car wasted no time and moved up two spots in the first lap and never let up. It was a driving exhibition from the drop of the green flag. The Top Ten Finishers in the 30 lap feature were:
1. David Steele #14
2. Shane Butler #18
3. Sonny Hartley #27
4. Mickey Kempgens #78
5. Troy DeCaire #68
6. Tommy Nichols #55
7. Ray Bragg Jr. #66
8. Bo Hartley #3
9. Wendy Mathis #80
10. Steve Heisler #81

It was an awesome race that had the crowd on its feet screaming as the most exciting traveling series in the state put on a great show. No doubt about it, TBARA is the best show in racing in Florida.

Other drivers that raced in tonight’s feature are:
Dustin Perez #70
Dude Teate #0
Ben fritz #16
Lil Jimmy Alvis #21
Dave Slawiak #79
Nick Manicis #8
Frankie Hurst #6
Dakotah Stephens #19
Larry Brazil Jr. #20
Dave Shotsberger #57
Johnny Gilbertson #2
Rick Voisey #69
Skeeter Falconer #26
Tra Pissott #52
Steve Darvalics #32
D. J. Hoelzle #15

The TBARA Sprints ran three heat races and winners of the heat races were:

Larry Brazil Jr. #20
Bo Hartley #3
Troy DeCaire #68

The house will be “rockin” on October 31 as the TBARA will again invade Desoto Super Speedway. Make your plans now to be here.

Pure Stocks. The Pure Stocks ran a very tight race tonight with bumper to bumper and side by side racing most of the 25 laps of the feature race. Winning the feature was Robert Crisp in the #2 car with Troy Theim in the #18 car taking second and Darren Ellis in the #71 car winning third place. The heat race for the Pure Stocks was won by Robert Crisp in the #2 ca.

Outlaw Modifieds. The Outlaw Modifieds ran at DSS tonight as well. The two heat races were won by Tom Meyer in the #04 car and Billy Campbell in the #11 car. Winning the feature 25 lap race was Billy Campbell in the #11 car while former Champion Doug Hopper in the #15 car won second place. Taking the third place trophy was Zack Rudd in the #29 car. Hopper looked like he was going to win this race as he and Campbell fought it out till the checkered flag and it was a photo finish to declare Campbell the winner. The crowd went crazy and loved every minute of this race.

Fun Stuff. Tonight was Fan Participation Night with several fans racing their cars and trucks one on one on the asphalt circle. Winning first place was a Dodge Ram Pick up. Also racing tonight was the Corvette Club with over 6 magnificent Vettes racing one on one. The $165,000 corvette won it all. It was fun to watch these special events tonight.

Pro Trucks. The Pro Trucks came in force tonight and put on a great show. Winning the feature 20 lap race was Nick Hernandez in the #37 truck, this was young Hernandez’s first win at Desoto Super Speedway. He is just 13 years old and we expect big things from this fine young man. Taking second place was Lance Daubach in the #77 truck and Blair Pontious in the #39 truck was third.

Winning the Truck heat race tonight was Stephen Darvalics in the #41 Truck.

Rockem-Sockem Bombers. The Rockem-Sockem boys showed up big time tonight. The winner of the 25 lap feature was Jody Collins in the #32 C car. Taking second place was Allen Bragg in the great looking #89 car. The Mayor, John Stewart in the #02 car won third place tonight. Winning the two heat races were John Stewart in the #02 car, and Kenny Gibson in the #23 car.

Please join us next Saturday night as the Racecar Engineering Hoosier Elite Super Late Models invade Desoto Super Speedway. Also racing will be the Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Magic 4’s and Flyin 4’s. The Bombers will run the 50 lap state championship race.
