IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
September 9, 2009
Charlie Montgomery Wins the Truck Feature Race at ASA Sanctioned Desoto Super Speedway
By Tom Blakeley

September 5,2009 Bradenton, FL It was a light crowd and car count at the South’s Fastest Short Track tonight. The fans that came saw some first class racing and were able to be home to watch NASCAR on TV. Desoto is known for the tightly organized race slots as it always attempts to get the fans their money’s worth but in a timely manner. Tonight they out did themselves and the races were over in slightly more than two hours time. The entire staff working in sync to move from one race to the next and the wrecks were towed off in remarkable time, it was a good night.

Pro Trucks. Charlie Montgomery in the #12 truck came to race and he took the checkered flag for the 50 lap feature race tonight. He had some real competition from the get go. Tyler Lau back fresh from working his college summer job drove the #42 truck for Stephen Darvalics tonight. Lau’s first time ever in the truck and he took second place and was on Montgomery’s bumper the last 8 laps. Michael Smith in the #23 truck took third place and drove a great race as well. Rounding out the top five were Nick Hernandez in the #37 truck in fourth place, and Lance Dubach in the #77 truck in fifth place.

The Legend Cars hit Desoto Super Speedway tonight in force. The 14 car field jumped into action and never let up. The field included the following drivers and cars:

Don Ketterman #22
Doug Hall #55
Justin Brown #8
Dave Gleason #07
Alex Kempf #99
Mason Ketterman #71
Tyler Smith #4
Gerald White #38
Erik Eichelberger #47
Jake Perkins #59
Jimmy Norman #2
Rick Wetmore #06
Zach Harris #54

The Bombers and the Street Stocks raced together and Dennis Wilson in the #42 car won the race with Robert Haygood in the #84 car taking second place. Third place belonged to Derek Lucas in the #88 car. Jody Collins in the orange 32 C car took first place for the Bombers while Todd Jacobs in the 44 car took second place tonight.

Open Wheel Modified. The feature for the Open Wheel Modified class was won by Ralph Bowman in the #2 car. Bobby Baldwin in the #4 car won second place and Edward Ditges in the #1 car won third place.

Please join us this coming Saturday night as we present Sherwin Williams and Pepsi night. The Figure 8 School Buses will join the Modified Minis, Pure Stocks, Bombers, Street stocks, Magic 4’s and Flyin 4’s along with American Mini Cups cars. The gates open at 5 PM with the racing action starting at 7PM.

Check us out at www.desotosuperspeedway.com or give us a call at 941-748-3171. The entire staff of Desoto Super Speedway will do everything possible to make your night of racing great.
