Bobby Baldwin Wins the Open Wheel Modified Feature Race at ASA Sanctioned Desoto Super Speedway
By Tom Blakeley

April 18, 2009, Bradenton FL Bill Davis makes his return to Desoto Super Speedway tonight in the #15 Open Wheel Modified car. Bill has won many championships at Desoto and other tracks in Florida. In 1996 he won the Modified Championship at Desoto. A huge year for Bill was 2002 in which he won three championships including the Modified Cars, Trucks, and SAMS Truck traveling series. Bill went Pro Cup racing in 2005 and 2006 and was crew chief at the time. Today Bill is teamed up with ARCA Champ and Craftsman Truck Series participant Mario Gosslin who was in the pits tonight with him and helping set the #15 car up. Bill loves Desoto Super Speedway and everything about it. He thinks the track is great, the ownership is great and the staff and people are great. Bill is a real positive person and thinks that attitude is everything. Sponsors of Bill’s #15 car are: James Carter Attorney of Bradenton, Trimmers Holiday Décor of Sarasota, Steadam Ford of Fort Meade, Leonard McCue of Q Auto and Injury Attorneys, and Chapman Fruit Company. Bill believes that you need to be the same person in good times and bad. Bill is one of the nicest drivers you’ll ever meet.

Before the races started, some of the drivers had plenty to say about Desoto Super Speedway. Randy Spicer driver of the Bomber #83 car said “Desoto has put the fun back into racing for me this year.” Steve Elder in the bomber #42 car said that “Fun is the real reason for racing and he has tons of fun racing with good friends.” Robert Crisp said he loves Desoto because he can really run fast on this track. Red Thorbin said that Desoto is a great facility because it is not a bull ring and there is plenty of room to pass. Jody Collins driver of the 32C car said he has been coming to Desoto Super Speedway for 27 years (sine he was 4 years old) and it is his home track. Zac Campilonga, Magic 4 car #30 driver said he has been coming to Desoto since he was 9 months old and in an umbrella stroller. He loves the track because you can really put on a great show and it is fast. He considers Desoto Super Speedway not just his home track but his HOME.
