IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

Charlotte County Results (partial)
Punta Gorda, FL.. Checkered Flag Sprint cars were back at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park, along with six other divisions this past Saturday night.

The first feature of the evening were the Cars of Yesterday with Jerry Mullins on the pole. Mullins led the first lap before Dennis Copenhagen passed him for the lead on lap two. On lap ten Tim Brush passed Copenhagen for the lead, however Brush only held the lead for two laps. Gary Squeaky got around Brush for the lead on lap twelve and captured the victory. Tim Brush and Steve Teasdale completed the top three. Jason McGonnel led the Fab 4's to the green for the twenty lap feature. On the start of the race John Rizzo got into the back of Jeremy Perkins resulting in Perkins spinning out and a complete restart.

When the green flag waved again Jason McGonnel took the top spot for the first four laps until Josh Flesher challenged him for the lead and took it from him. The first race caution to wave was on lap eleven when Kevin Underwood's car came to a stop on the frontstretch.

On the restart Randall LeMaster got into Jason McGonnel and sent him spinning in turn one. Then on the second restart for lap eleven, Gene McClough spun his car out in turn four. The third restart was good with Josh Flesher still oput front.

Lap sixteen seen a battle for the lead Johnny Balzarano and Josh Flesher running side by side until the checkered flag. Johnny Balzarano was able to edge out Josh Flesher for the win with kevin Underwood capturing the third spot.

The Outlaw Modifieds were back at the "Jewel of the South" for their thirty five lap feature with Zack Rudd sitting on the pole. Rudd led the first two laps before Cliff Steinmann passed Rudd for the postion. Kevin Campbell brought out the first caution on lap seven, that is when is car came to a stop on turn two.

On the restart Steinman was still the leader with Billy Campbell hot on his heels. On seventeen Steinman was still leading when his motor blew and hit the front straightaway wall, also collected in the accident was Doug Hooper who had been running in the third spot. Both cars were done for the evening. Cliff Steiman was able to take home the win with Zack Rudd finishing in second and Ric Mills was third.

Amanda Ferguson led the Checkered Flag Sprints to the green for there thirty lap race. Ferguson jumped out front immediately. Randy Woodall spun out in turn two after the first lap was completed, he then hit the backstretch wall which brought out the caution. Fergouson led until lap three when Gary Gimmler got by her for the lead.

The last caution to come out was on lap ten when Billy Boyd Jr spun his car out in turn one. With two laps to go Shane Bulter passed Gary Gimmler for the win. Gary Gimmler had to settle for the second postion while Scotty Adema was able to finish third.

The Sportsman ran a fifty lap feature with Timmy Lowe starting on the pole. Lowe led the first eleven laps before the black and green machine driven by Aaron Williamson passed Lowe for the lead. On the same lap Cody Allen got into the back of Donnie Ollie Jr and spun Ollie out in turn four.

The next caution was for Brian Richardson stopping on the track in turn two on lap seventeen. LJ Grimm was running in second on lap thirty one, when his car fell of pace. Aaron Williamson went on to win the feature with James Dubose in second and Timmy Lowe completing the top three postions.

Shane Moore was on the pole for the twenty five lap Pro 4 race, with Mark Davis jumping to the lead when the green flag waved. At the end of the first lap Brandon Reichert spun out on the backstretch and had to restart at the rear of the field.

On the restart Shane Moore's car could not come up to speed as quickly as the others and resulted into John Pummel Jr spinning into turn one.On the second restart Mark Davis missed a gear and Corey Bigley took the lead overuntil Derrick Horton passed Bigley on lap ten. The last caution came out on lap eleven when john Pummel Jr and Dylan Bigley got together in turn three, which sent Bigley spinning. Bigley got his spot back, while Pummel was sent to the back of the field. Derrick Horton won the race with Dylan Bigley and Kevin Underwood completing the top three spots.

The last race of the evening was the thirty five lap race for the Florida Suncoast Outlaw Street Stocks. Stuart Vandevender sat on the pole postion. On the start of the race Mike LaPlant quickly brought out the caution when his car hit the front strightaway wall. On the restart Stuart Vandevender took the lead.

Danny Daniels Jr pressured Vandevender for the lead for several of laps, and on lap twenty Daniels got into the back of Vandevender in turn one and sent Vandevender spinning. Daniels was sent to the back, while Vandevender regained the lead. Shane Leonard was able to pass Stuart Vandevender for the lead on lap thirty.

The last caution to wave was for Stuart Vandevender when he spun out by himself in the back stretch. Leonard led until lap thirty three when Dave Davis challenged Shane Leonard for the lead. Dave Davis was able to complete the pass and was awarded the victory. Shane Leonard came in second and Stuart Vandevender was able to come back to finish third.
