By Tom Blakeley

Bradenton, Florida March 14, 2009. If you are into racing and in the Lakeland Area you need to do yourself a favor and visit the Race Car Engineering new showroom and 17,000 square foot warehouse that is at capacity with all forms of circle track racing parts and supplies.

From asphalt to dirt, from Late Models to 4?s, it is all there for you to pick and choose. Race Car Engineering also carries a complete lineup of Drag Racing parts. The entire staff of Race Car Engineering is very knowledgeable and capable as well as anxious to please their customers. They ship UPS worldwide and the list of customers is amazing. To help promote the Hoosier Elite Series, Race Car Engineering has put together a package of contingency bonuses that exceed $20,000.00 in value. They also plan to have a banquet that will include more contingencies and cash payouts. In order to qualify for any contingency bonus, drivers will have to race in 6 of the 8 scheduled races. Race Car Engineering is located in Lakeland Florida 5 miles North of I-4 on Highway 98. They have an 800 number hotline at 800-882-7231; give them a call when you need parts. Desoto Super Speedway is very excited to be partnering with Race Car Engineering on the Hoosier Elite Series.

Pure Stocks. The first 6 lap heat race for the Pure stock Class was won by Tyler Lau In the #1 car, second was Troy Thiem in the #18 car, third was Richard McClough in the #14 car. The second heat race was won by Richie Shepherd in the #30A car, second was Mark Pickleshimer in the #17 car and in third place was Jason Graham in the #30 car. The feature 25 lap race was won by Richie Shepherd in the 30 A car, Troy Thiem in the #18 car took second, and winning third was Robert Crisp in the #2 car. What a race this was as there was a four pack that traded places throughout the entire race. At the finish line the fans were standing and rockin the house while the four pak crossed the finish line. Tyler Lau was the 4th car in the four pak and did he ever make it interesting by bumping and trying to push his way to the lead. This was a great race for a great class of cars, and a real crowd pleaser.

Modified Mini ?s. The first Heat race for the Modified Mini class was won by Marty Neikens in the #70 car, second was Chris Thorton in the #24 car, third was Glenn Kelley in the #16 car. The 35 lap feature race was won by Chris Thornton in the #24 car; second place was Marty Neikens in the #70 car. Taking third place was Glenn Kelley in the #16 car. There was some great racing in this race with young Matthew Perkins in the #99 car making a run at second place but spinning out which sent him to the rear, but he made a good run at it.

Rockem Sockem Bombers. The first heat race for the bombers was won by Michael The Punisher Crooks in the #33 car, second was Todd The Metal Man Jacobs in the #44 car, third was Randy Megan?s Dad Spicer in the #83 car. The second heat race for the Bombers was won by Dean The Dominator Butrum in the #32 car, second was Jody Partime Collins in the #32 C car, third was Jeff The Unguided Missile Taylor in the #70 car. The 25 lap feature race was won by Jody Collins in the 32C car, second was John The Mayor Stewart in the # 02 car and third belonged to Randy Spicer in the #82 car. There were several motors blown in this race causing delays for cleaning up of the track.

The Race Car Engineering Hoosier Elite Super Late Models. The first 5 lap heat race for the Super Late Models was won by Robert Yoho in the #00 car. Second was Perry Lovelady in the #7 car, third was Scott Holly in the #1 car. The second heat race was won by Scot Walters in the #55 car, second was Anthony Campi in the #81 car, in third place was Richard Sapp Jr. in the #44 car. The 50 lap feature race was won by Scot Walters in the #55 car. Second place was Anthony Campi in the #81 car, third was won by Richard Sapp Jr. in the #44 car. It was nip and tuck all the way for Mr. Walters and Mr. Campi as they were bumper to bumper in a great clean race to the finish.

The real battle was for the 3rd and 4th positions as Robert Yoho and Richard Sapp Jr. were really going at it and each driver nearly spun out on several occasions. This was a really good beginning to an 8 race season that will include a points race and banquet with over $20,000.00 in contingency bonuses.
