IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
March 8, 2009
Jessica Ostrovskis tops Flyin 4's at Desoto Super Speedway
By Tom Blakeley

What a race we had tonight. The fans were on their feet yelling and screaming. For 16 laps there they were the two of them, side by side. It would be hard to even imagine the energy, and concentration level needed to pull off such a feat. From the drop of the green flag Stephen Darvalics in the #41 black truck and Tyler Lau in the #12 black truck were running two wide and they kept the ferocious pace as they pulled away from the field. The wicked pace kept up for 16 laps when the yellow flag came out and Darvalics pulled in front of Lau. This was the first time for Tyler Lau to drive the #12 truck as he was just offered the ride this week. That 19 year old can flat out drive, and has lots and lots of talent. When he is not in classes at South Florida University in Tampa; he practicing his racing skills. Lau has a real passion for the sport and it shows in his ability. Darvalics drove an incredible race and took home the trophy for first place. Tyler Lau took second and Danny Anderson in the #50 truck was third. Anderson was chasing the Lau and Darvalics the entire race and was gaining towards the end of the 50 lap event.

The Pro Trucks started the evening with two heat races for placement in the 50 lap feature. The first heat race was won by Tyler Lau in the #12 black Truck. Placing second was Todd Bontrager in the #8 Truck and third place went to Nick Hernandez in the #37 Truck. The second heat race was won by Stephen Darvalics in the #41 truck. Taking second was Danny Anderson in the # 50 Truck and third place belonged to Bill Manfull in the #48 truck. It was a great night for the Darvalics race team.

Magic 4?s. The 6 lap heat race for the Magic 4?s was won by Austin Cavey in the #20 car. Placing second was Brittany Barr in the #81 car, while third place was won by 12 year old Joann Danielson in the#38 car. The 20 lap feature was a wild affair with many yellow flags and the drivers were promised a meeting with the track owner John if they didn?t straighten up and quit using their bumpers so much!! Winning the feature was Brittany Barr in the #81 car; second place was taken by Austin Cavey in the #20 car. Third place was won by the youngest Best family driver Kyle Best in the #3X car. The Magic 4 kids put on a great show for the fans.

Rockem Sockem Bombers. The bomber 6 lap heat race was won by Jody Part time Collins in the #32C car. Second place belonged to Michael The Punisher Crooks in the #33 car. Placing third was Dean The Dominator Butrum in the #32 car. The 25 lap bomber feature was a thrill a minute as John The Mayor Stewart in the #02 car went into Todd The Terminator Jacobs in the #44 car sideways on the front stretch. Neither car performed very well after the run in and Stewart did not finish the race. Taking the checkered flag for the Feature was Jody Collins in the #32C car, while his teammate Dean Butrum in the #32 car was second. Michael Crooks in the #33 car won third place. It was a tough race but a clean race.

Flyin 4?s. This new to Desoto Super Speedway division is really taking off. There were 10 cars and it was only the second time for this class to run. Winning the first 6 lap heat race was JCR Jessica Ostrovskis in the pink bullet #91 car. Winning the second 6 lap heat race was Dalton Baldwin in the #4 car. The feature race was a thriller with JCR Jess jumping into an early lead at the drop the green flag and keeping that lead for the entire race. Young Mr. Alex Patton in the #13 car was really on her bumper the whole race and it made for some exciting racing action. When interviewed after the race Alex Patton tried to explain to the crowd why his car seemed to be fast tonight, but his explanation left everybody in the air. The winner of the 25 lap Flyin 4 Feature was JCR Jess Ostrovskis in the #91 car, second was Alex Patton in the #13 car. Placing third was Dalton Baldwin in the #4 car.

Sportsman. The field was small but they ran a fast 10 lap race. The best family came to race and race they did as Jimmie Best in the #67 car took the checkered flag and Duane Best in the #3 car took second. Joey Barnes in the #66 car took third place. We hope to see more cars in this division soon.

Street Stocks. The winner of the 6 lap heat race was Casey Hall in the #11 red Camaro. Coming in second was Jonathan Heidenthal in the #27 car and third place belonged to Derek Lucas in the orange #88 car. The Street Stock 25 lap feature was exciting with Jonathan Heidenthal in the #27 car winning the race. Second place was won by Alex Abbott in the #17 car and Dennis Wilson in the #42 car took third place.
