Rain Shortens Volusia Speedway Show

Daredevil Motorcycle Rider, Sky Lungston from Bradenton, FL made an attempt to jump 8 Pure Stock race cars only to lose control and crash land on the track. Sky was airlifted to Halifax Hospital and was listed in serious condition when races were cancelled due to rain. 35 year old Sky has several world records and is well known for his motorcycle jumps as well as his unique rides with his two Burmese pythons.

The Mini Sprints and Hobby Stocks were able to run their heat races. Three divisions of the Daytona Antique Race Cars were on hand for heats and feature with Drivers from all over the south in Sprints, Midgets and Stock Cars. The rain finally took over at about 10pm leaving the National Late Models to run their 100 lap race on Sunday November 18th.

Heats: Mini Sprints heat race winner was #7 Jessy Teed. The OB's Hobby Stocks ran three heat races: Heat #1 winner - #02 Jimmy Hefner, Heat #2 winner - #88 Chris Byle, Heat #3 winner - #64 Trevor Gamble.

The Pure Stocks ran the first feature of the evening. 12 cars took the green and it was #43 Joey Froehlich taking the checker.

Pure Stock finish: 1.#43 Joey Froehlich - 2.#19 Kirk Bush - 3.#23 Mark Reiter - 4.#75 Shawn Pawlak - 5.#8 John Blood - 6.#90 William Creech - 7.#007 Jake Garver - 8.#01 Rodney Alexander - 9.#37 Steve Buker - 10.#99 Ed DeMartino - 11.#48 Deric Smith 12. #224 ? DNS-#69 Brad Fender

The Hobby Stock feature was a full field with 30 cars taking the green. The time shortened feature was caution plagued but #64 Trevor Gamble was able to hold on to the lead and take the checker. With 8 minutes left on the clock and only one lap on the scoreboard it was a battle between #88 Chris Byle and #64 Trevor Gamble. #19 Joe Belkey went up in smoke as he lost a motor in turn 4 and #0 George Richards and #711 George Neuman got together on the backstretch and as time ran out it was green/white and checker for #64 Trevor Gamble.
