Brent Chilson-DeLand, FL put the #99 out in front of the field and kept it there for the entire race winning his 3rd Late Model race of the 2001 season. The action was in the back of the pack as Scott Singler-Ormond Beach, FL #6 spun and did his best to return to a top spot and ended the race with an impressive 7th place finish. There was a silent battle being waged between the top spots in the points #88 Paul George-Astor, FL and #68 Joe Kump-West Palm Beach, FL. #88 Paul George is the 2001 VSP Late Model Points Champion
Street Stock---#1M David Kinsey worked his way to the front through 3 cautions and 9 laps to take the lead from #23 Wray Shaeffer. This was Shaeffer's third visit to VSP in a very strong car but not strong enough to keep it out front and win. #00 John Ripley seemed to have his aim set for a win but spun in turn two and finished 8th. #22 Joe Baker had the points wrapped up before the race but went out and finished his year as he had run it all year up front with a second place finish. #22 Joe Baker is the 2001 VSP Street Stock Points Champion.
Hobby Stock---The OB's Restaurant & Lounge Hobby Stocks had an impressive turnout and ran two feature events. #72 Lawrence Edne took the checker in the B-Main. #1 Brian George had some sheet metal difficulties and lost the right side of his car, giving the crowd and glimpse into the interior of a racecar! Through black flags and quick pit road repairs #1 Brian George went on to finish 4th in the feature!
#19 Joe Belkey held off hard charging #14 Hugh Hays and #96 Bill Littell to win the A-Main feature event. They kept it three wide and side by side for several laps. The most interesting spin of the night came in the last lap as #64 Trevor Gamble, looking for a Points Championship spun in the last lap and went on to finish 7th, not enough to win the points challenge. #18 Richard Price is the 2001 VSP Hobby Stock Points Champion
Pure Stock---#57 Heinz Haas was the only driver to win twice in one night! Haas won the feature and the points. #77 Shannon Cleveland looked like the car to beat but early in the race Cleveland slipped back and went on to finish 6th. #57 Heinz Haas is the 2001 VSP Pure Stock Points Champion.
