| Kenny Adams USCS Winner at Volusia Speedway Park season finale | (Barberville, FL; 10/29/2000) — Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL gave the home-state folks a sample of his speed and driving abilities as he captured the checkered flag on the second night of the United Sprint Car Series swing into Florida to complete its 2000 season. Adams showed his hand early as he moved from his third place starting position to chase Greg Wilson of Benton Ridge, OH. The chase lasted until lap 12 when Adams took advantage of lapped traffic to make the move around Wilson for the lead.
Heat winners Wilson, Adams, and Terry McCarl of Pleasantville, IA, the previous night's feature winner were inverted in the start which gave the fans lots of time on their feet watching twist and turn around the half-mile dirt speedway. A red flag condition was brought out on lap 18 as Adams' teammate Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL spun in turn three and was collected by Jerry Jones of Clearmont, FL. Both driver emerged uninjured, but were unable to continue.
The checkered flag fell to Adams giving him 22 wins in U.S.C.S. competition during the 2000 season. Following Adams to the flag were Mike Woodring of Eden, NY in second, Wilson third, Sport Allen of Pinellas Park, FL in fourth, and McCarl in the fifth spot. Sixth through tenth were Jon Eldreth of Conowingo, MD-sixth; Chris Rogers of Winston, GA-seventh; Terry Witherspoon of Jacksonville, FL-eighth; Jim Raptis of Marietta, GA-ninth; and Otto Scrape of Orange Park, FL-tenth.
The Huggins Cams Hard Charger Award went to Terry Witherspoon.
The final 2000 series events for the U.S.C.S. will be held next weekend, November 3 and 4 at East Bay Speedway in Tampa, FL.
