The FMRA midget series rolled into Charlotte County Speedway Saturday night, sharing the bill with the TBARA Sprinters, Open Wheel Modifieds, and the Pro 4-Outlaw Mod's. Rain cooled things off and the track was quickly dried, but heat races were canceled and 30 lap features only for all classes were on tap. The midgets pushed off and #23 James Petrokus severely oiled the entire race track forcing lengthy cleanup and a delayed start. When the race finally started #16 Rod Anderson jumped into the lead. But this was short lived as Mark Gimmler quickly made his way to the front and wanted to stink up this show. But #15 Ralph Wheeler was determined to not let this happen as he patiently made his way to the front and chased down Gimmler to pressure him. But the field was slowed again as #80 Wendy Mathis blew an engine and #52 Mike Elder was unable to avoid her slowing machine. The two came together and Wendy flipped. After the lengthy cleanup for this and being a long 30 lapper, Wheeler's machine finally ran out of fuel and Gimmler was out of anyone to seriously challenge him. Mark ran away for his 4th win and is looking like the only serious contender for the championship at this point in the season. Good runs were turned in by Rod Anderson, Ben Fritz, Ted Durfee, and Bob Bradley rounding out the top 5.
