| Harrington Tops in SARA Late Models | The SARA BMD Title Loan Late Model Sportsman Series made its fourth stop of the season at Florida Speed Park in St. Augustine, FL last Saturday night for a 100 lap feature event. Points leader Bobby Beauchemin would make his first trip ever to the D shaped, high speed oval, and bring with him a slim 35 point lead over Joe Boyd and David Logan.
The Fast Qualifier Award would go to Florida racing veteran Dwayne Dempsey with a time of 17.343. The top ten qualifiers would draw pills to determine starting positions. Tim Harrington would start on the pole and Jeff Scofield on the outside of row one. Rookie sensation Michael Faulk and Joe Boyd made up row two, Dempsey and Richard Kelley, Jr. row three, Tony Amico and Mike McCreary, Jr. row four, and Wayne Morris and Bobby Beauchemin on row five. Harrington would have a rear view mirror full of hard core drivers as each took their turn trying to unseat the Miramar, FL driver, but each time, lap after lap, he held his line and ran a near perfect race.
Dempsey would turn up the heat early, but he would be just a bit off on the set-up, and finish fourth. Joe Boyd would continue with his consistent runs so far this year and finish 5th. Mike McCreary, Jr. would have another spectacular run, managing to stay out of trouble, finishing 3rd. Bobby Beauchemin would once again provide some great racing action as he made his way through the field, and would make a run at Harrington on the last lap as both drivers came off turn two.
Harrington would hang on, and be the 4th different winner on the SARA BMD Title Loan Series in as many races this year.
The next stop for the SARA Series will be May 27th at Auburndale Speedway for another 100 Lap Feature Event. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! or send a letter to the editor!
