Volusia Speedway Park Looks Forward to Night 2 of the Holiday Convention Classic December 12th | VSP MEDIA
Barberville, FL (December 11, 2009) Volusia Speedway Park saw the first night of the Holiday Convention Classic won by Mother Nature. At approximately 5:30 she decided to start with the wet stuff and would not stop. All racing was cancelled for the night.
But just five miles down the road, there was no rain. It was like a cloud sat directly over the track and let loose the wet stuff.
"I really hated doing that," said General Manager Tonya Moschell, "but we really had no choice. We did our best to keep the track but when it did not stop or slow down, we knew we had to pull the plug. This is just one of those things that we have no control over and typical Florida weather."
"I hated telling Kenny Schrader there would be no racing but he completely understood and hopefully the fans did also. He was ready to challenge the modifieds of Volusia but it was just not to be tonight."
"There was only a 30% chance of rain for today and there is a 60% chance tomorrow but it seems that the 30% chances get us far more than the 60% chance. Hopefully since Mother Nature decided to cancel our racing tonight, tomorrow night she will be much kinder to Volusia Speedway Park."
Tomorrow night, Saturday, December 12th at Volusia Speedway Park, the second night of the Holiday Convention Classic will run with the Florida Late Models for 35 laps and $2500 to win. Also on the program will be the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman for 25 laps and $1000 to win.
And remember, Santa Claus will be in the house giving out candy to all the boys and girls and hearing those secret Christmas wishes.
Bring an unwrapped toy for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, pick up a coupon or show your PRI Badge and get $5.00 off general admission. General admission is $20.00, children 10 and under are FREE. Drive-in parking is $10.00.
