DIRToberFAST at Volusia Speedway Park October 8 through 10. | VSP MEDIA
BARBERVILLE, FL – September 18, 2009 — October is a beautiful time of year in Central Florida with traditionally drier weather and cooler temps. It is also a great time of year for racing at Volusia Speedway Park and this October will be no exception. Volusia Speedway has put together a power-packed schedule of special racing events October 2009.
October kicks off with “Gotta Chance Night” featuring Sportsman, Modified, Street Stock, Thunder Stock and 4-Cylinder divisions. There is a catch. Racers will not be allowed to enter if they have won a feature event at VSP in 2009. This promises to be an exciting night and guarantees 5 new faces in Victory Lane.
DIRToberFAST weekend, presented by Volusia County Fair, boasts larger purses and some good old fashioned Oktoberfest-type fun. Fans and racers are invited to spend the weekend at Volusia speedway October 8 through 10. An open practice for all classes takes place on Thursday night, October 8 from 6pm to 9 pm. Pit admission will be $15 and grandstand admission is free on Thursday night.
The fun really takes off on Friday night, October 9, with qualifying heats for Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman and Street Stocks plus full programs paying $500 to win for the Thunder Stocks and 4-Cyl Challengers. Fans and racers will be able to take in an Oktoberfest-style party following the races with food, beverage and music.
Those staying on the property (or perhaps just driving by) can take in a Pancake Feed on Saturday morning, October 10, from 9 am to 11am. Immediately following, from 11am to 2pm, a Racers Swap Meet will take place in the Volusia Speedway general parking area. This will be a great opportunity for racers to clean out their shops and maybe find some great deals. There will not be a fee to set up at the Racers Swap Meet, but VSP reminds everyone that this is for the racers. Commercial entities should contact the VSP offices to make arrangements for attending.
Saturday night racing kicks off again at 7:30pm with last chance qualifying races for Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. Late Models will run a 50 lap main event for $2500. Sportsman and Modifieds will each be racing 30 laps for $1500 first place checks and Street Stocks will race 30 laps for $1000 to win.
Grandstand admission on Friday night is $12 for adults. Saturday night admission is $15. A special 2-day grandstand pass will be offered for $22 for adults.
Pit admission is $25 for non-member and $22 for members. A 2-day Pit Pass will be $45 for non-members and $39 for members. With the purchase of the 2-Day Pit Pass, racers will receive a coupon for free food at the Oktoberfest party following Friday night’s racing program.
Without a doubt, DIRToberFAST will be weekend racers and fans will not want to miss at Volusia Speedway Park. Plenty of activities, the South’s hottest racing action, and a giant dose of fun will make for an autumn weekend to remember.
Volusia Speedway offers your best value in family entertainment every Saturday night through October with Fastlane Five Racing and special events.
