Wayne Reutimann Wins At Hendry County Motorsports Park

HCMP Media

Wayne Reutimann Jr. In the winners circle with announcer Bill Green

Bubba the Love Sponge jumped out to a strong early lead in the 30 late model feature Saturday night. Bubba of course is a nationally known radio personality, but he certainly showed the fans who may not be aware of his racing talent he could wheel a late model on Saturday night.

Things were going in the right direction until around 10 laps in Bubba, with a solid lead over Wayne Reutimann, Jr., had trouble getting around the #311 of Ken Monahan coming off turn two and heading the backstraight. This allowed Reutimann to catch the 102.5 machine, slide under Bubba's race car in four and lead by a nose at the stripe. Bubba tried hard to recover going into turn one, spun and in the process collected team mate Keith Nosbisch in the 101.

The remainder of the race was a question of whether Josh Peacock could get his late model around the #00 of Reutimann. He never seriously challenged and said afterward that Reutimann was hooked up and never made a mistake.

This was Wayne Reutimann Jr's second dirt late model race, having wrecked at Ocala in his first outing on Friday night.

In the closing laps, fifteen year old Maxx Bennett raced the wheels off his car trying to get by #24 Dennis Williams. In what may have been the best battle on the track all night Williams was barely able to hold onto the third spot from the furious charge of Bennett.

September 5th Hendry County Motorsports Park will not be racing as the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series will be at Volusia Speedway Park.
