Patrick Williams leads Triple Crown Points going into Leg 2 at Citrus County Speedway Saturday Night

by Jane Smith

Samsula, Fla. (October 5, 2003) Leg two of the Sunbelt Super Late Model Triple Crown Series will be held Saturday night at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness. Going into round two, Patrick Williams leads the Triple Crown points after his victory last Saturday at Bronson Motor Speedway.

Last Saturday at Bronson Motor Speedway for leg one, Wayne Anderson won Fast Qualifier but was unable to race due to a broken rear-end right before the green flag. Anderson currently leads the FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Series and looks to be the 2003 FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Champion as he stands at 1073 points.

Leg one of the Triple Crown saw twenty one of Florida's "best" at Bronson Motor Speedway. Patrick Williams of Archer, Fl took the win followed by Jimmy Cope, Chris Fontaine, Aric Almirola and Fain Skinner. Scotty Crockett, Herb Hoeffler, Mac Johnson, Barry Willoughby and Ricky Carlton rounded out the top ten.

As the Triple Crown moves to Citrus County Speedway this Saturday, Patrick Williams holds a ten point lead over Jimmy Cope for the Crown. But you can expect for Ricky Carlton and Herb Hoefler to be strong at Citrus County since that is their hometrack and they run very well at home.

The third leg will conclude the hunt for the Triple Crown on November 22nd at New Smyrna Speedway at the prestigious Governor's Cup 200 where the 2003 FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Champion will also be crowned. Along with the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola in December, this is considered "THE" race of the year by Super Late Model drivers.

Citrus County Speedway grandstands open at 4 p.m. with qualifying for the second leg of the Triple Crown at 5 p.m. Racing action starts at 6 p.m.
