Citrus County Speedway Welcomes Tim Christman

by Larry MacMillan
Citrus County Speedway management, staff, race drivers, and car owners welcomed Tim Christman as the new General Manager and Director of Operations at the Thursday night practice. Tim is the popular former race director at Ocala Speedway and brings his expertise and managerial experience to Citrus with his first race coming up this weekend.

His appointment was official on Monday, July 14 and he has been working with promoters Billy Hooker and Jimmy Wear over the past several days. He will spend the next couple of weeks getting settled in and observing the operation and making new acquaintances. Many of the drivers he worked with previously have expressed their desire to follow him to Citrus and racing under his, hands on, managerial skills.

Barring any undesirable weather conditions his first race will be a 75 lap Late Model race and an introduction to the regulars in the Sportsman, Street Stock, Mini Stock, Hobby Stock and Thunder Stock divisions Saturday night. The Figure 8’s will also be trying to make their third appearance of the season so Tim will have his hands full on his first outing in his new position.

Most of the drivers are suffering from major anxiety attacks because of the inclement weather we have had over the past four race nights. Three rainouts and a scheduled night off have left them in the garage for four straight weeks. Fans are suffering from the same problem and are anxious to get back into action as well.

Welcome to Tim Christman and we wish him all the success in the world. He surely will be a big plus to Citrus County Speedway racers and fans.
