Lexington, Ky. - The Valvoline Company has announced the winners of the 2002 Valvoline Cup national points championship presented by Campbell Hausfeld.

Over 700 of the more than 84,000 competing drivers will be receiving awards for their season long accomplishments, with the awards going as far as thirtieth place in each class.

RC Roper from Fort Myers, FL. finished 18th nationally in the Sprint Car class.

The 2002 Valvoline Cup, 2002 marked the inaugural season of a national championship that embraces all forms of motorsports competition among its 31 classes. In order to compete, drivers simply registered at their local track for the program and then submitted their racing results after each racing event they competed in thoroughout the season. At the end of the racing season, each driver has been awarded points based on the best 15 event finishes. Roper earned Valvoline Cup points at Thundercross Motorsports Complex competition.

There are no Valvoline Cup program rules with respect to the cars, tracks and racing. Instead, the rules of the tracks and sanctioning organizations under which each driver competes govern that driver and the car. The Valvoline Cup meausres the success of a driver within his or her racing program relative to the success of other drivers in similar cars within their program. The program has been presented without cost to drivers or tracks.

Roper will share in a prize pool of over $500,000, which includes a combination of cash. Campbell Hausfeld equipment, Valvoline Racing products support package, product rebates, Campbell Hausfeld and Valvoline branded merchandise, Valvoline apparel and trophies.

The Valvoline Cup Cup is only the latest example of Valvoline's support of grassroots racers. Valvoline is a contingency sponsor in NHRA drag racing and for the past six years has been the No. 1 choice of motor oil by NHRA sportsmen-class racers at NHRA pro events. For the past 17 years, Valvoline has sponsored the national championships for the Sports Car Club of America, the SCCA Valvoline Sunoffs.

Drivers and others interested in the 2003 Valvoline Cup program can learn more about the program on the Valvoline Cup web-site at www.valvolinecup.com.
